Most people are stuck because they've gotten into the habit of looking at their situation from one point of view. Every time they try to move forward, they find themselves walking down the same unworkable path they've walked down before. With each pass their frustration mounts.

The key to getting unstuck is finding new ways to look at your situation. Asking new questions and finding new viewpoints often elicit new answers. Rather than looking for the answer to your dilemma, start looking for new questions to ask yourself.

The 101 ideas in this eBooklet invite you to shift how you see yourself and your situation. Some ideas encourage you to take action while others show you how to look within for new answers. To get a feel for how the eBooklet is written see the Table of Contents and Excerpt below.

Paradigm Shifters

One of the main reasons people feel stuck is they have gotten into a habit of seeing their life and situation from one perspective. As a result, each time they try to look at solutions they run into the same brick walls they’ve been seeing for months, or possibly years.

A key to getting rolling again is shifting how you view yourself, your life, and your situation. Each idea in this section invites you to transform your perspective in small but significant ways. As you implement these ideas, you begin opening the door to fresh, new perspectives.

  1. Give yourself the gift of time. Rather than forcing yourself to take action immediately, give yourself some time—a week, a month, six months—to be with your situation to evaluate your options so you can identify your present needs and find new ways to create what you want.

  2. Refuel your body, mind and spirit. Rather than pushing yourself to be productive, ignoring your physical and spiritual needs, begin to listen to what your body is saying and do your best to give it what it needs. Bottomline: If you feel tired, sleep, nap, or rest. If you feel spiritually hungry, read, think, or pray. Even if it doesn’t feel like you are making any immediate progress with these actions, investing in your well being is something that will pay great dividends over time.

  3. Focus more time, attention, and energy on what you enjoy. Rather than spending all your resources searching for “The Answer” to your situation, refocus your attention on what excites and interests you. This significant shift in focus enables you to turn away from what is not working and toward what does work.

  4. Discover as much as you can about yourself. Rather than continuing to see yourself as you are today, begin to explore what you enjoy, what you dislike, how you function best, what makes you uniquely you. When you come from your true nature, it’s easier to see new options and make confident choices.

  5. See your procrastination as a valuable message from your soul. Rather than wasting your precious energy getting mad at yourself for what you aren’t attending to, listen to yourself with as much honesty as you can muster. What is it you don’t want to do?

  6. Honor your own pace as you move forward. Rather than setting expectations or listening to what others think about your progress, trust yourself to know how fast or slow you need to go to feel whole.

  7. Focus your attention on the essence of what you want in each situation. Rather than setting your sights on a predefined outcome or solution, which may be unnecessarily limiting, focus on how you want to feel about the situation. By being open to how things may unfold, new solutions can appear.

  8. Be adventurous. Rather than limiting your behaviors to what you’ve always done, experiment a little. Branch out. Try new things. Who knows how broadening your horizon may enrich your life?

  9. Minimize the should’s and have to’s you live by. Rather than continuing to live by outdated, limiting “rules” that have been a part of your life for a long time, begin to question their value. Create new guidelines and values to live by that are more in alignment with who you are today.

  10. Be gentle with yourself. Rather than forcing yourself to be happy or productive right now, accept that you are right where you need to be today. Honor yourself by making choices that nurture you.
Preparing Yourself for New

In all likelihood, your life has become a bit limited, a bit constricted, and a bit stale over the last few years. Perhaps you’ve pulled in to protect yourself, to meet someone else’s expectations, or to perform the tasks you had to at the time.

To open up to the new solutions you are craving, you must open to life once again. Use the tips in the next four sections to reawaken your body, reacquaint yourself with the richness of life, calm your mind, and address the long to-do list that may be monopolizing your attention.
